Statement of DAN WOOD, Candidate for
Governing Board Member, Trustee Area 2 (Outside City)
Santa Cruz City School District

Occupation: Bank Branch Manager

Education and Qualifications: Educating our children should be our top priority in Santa Cruz County. It is paramount to preserving and building upon Santa Cruz’s success—and that of our whole society. My experience as a 24-year resident of Santa Cruz County, graduate of Santa Cruz City Schools, local youth soccer coach, substitute teacher, and Camp Hammer youth counselor, provides me with perspective on what is important to our community. I will lead based on my strong beliefs in innovation, common sense decision making, integrity, and my dedication to what I believe are the three most important education issues:
  • Resources—adequate resources must be allocated to ensure our students benefit from qualified and dedicated teachers, a safer learning environment, and technologically appropriate facilitates.
  • Performance—students must graduate equipped to succeed in a fast-paced world with changing economic realities.
  • Accountability—students, teachers, administrators, board trustees, and most of all, our community must be accountable for the results as we educate and support Santa Cruz’s children together.

Please cast your vote for me and cast a vote for innovative leadership focused on the tremendous potential of our children.

Statement of FÉLIX ROBLES, Candidate for
Governing Board Member, Trustee Area 2 (Outside City)
Santa Cruz City School District

Occupation: College Instructor Age: 55

Education and Qualifications: As trustee for the past four years, I have encouraged the district to develop a strategic plan that will establish clear accountability for everyone. Thanks to the participation of parents, teachers, students, administrators, and board, part of that plan has now been developed. However, a crucial piece remains to be done-the action plans that will make it possible for the district to have specific standards of accountability in all areas, and the means to measure progress. If elected, I will continue to be a strong proponent of planning that includes all stakeholders, results in excellence in education for all students, and of a process that is open and continually inclusive.

My credentials include: B. A. and M.A. In Hispanic Literature; married, homeowner, and parent of two students in the district; 31 years as an educator and volunteer board member for many nonprofit organizations, including president of the Santa Cruz City Schools Board of Education and past president of the Cultural Council of Santa Cruz County.

Statement of G. RICHARD ARNOLD, Candidate for
Governing Board Member, Trustee Area 2 (Outside City)
Santa Cruz City School District

Occupation: Independent Entrepreneur

Education and Qualifications: Democrat Senator Robert Byrd said educators are creating ..."nitwits." There is a deliberate dumbing down of America's children. School administration policies are now directed by the United Nations through UNESCO and the National Education Association.

There purpose is to destroy American sovereignty and make America a cog in a "New World Order" for the multinational; I.E., Council on Foreign Relations, Bilderbergers, and Trilateral Commission. See: freeworldalliance.com

They are discreetly preventing our children from becoming individuals who can think for themselves, to feel guilty for being an American, to be "interdependent" (group think) and not even know they have unalienable rights.

Other countries study math, science and solid academics; our children are brainwashed about homosexuality, UN Agenda 21 environmentalism and multiculturalism.

Federal Judge Harmon ruled "parents give up their rights when they drop children off at public school." John Dewey accused "Children who think for themselves spoil the collective (socialist) society."

You can't make socialists out of individualists. I believe each child is an individual with unalienable rights from their Creator, not government. Thomas Jefferson said, " I tremble" when citizens don't know these "liberties are the gifts of God." Not government.

Schools should be shaped by parents not UN multinationals.
