Statement of JIM DIAS, Candidate for
Governing Board Member, Trustee Area 3
Pajaro Valley Unified School District

Occupation: Deputy fire Marshal Age: 42

Education and Qualifications: My roots in the Pajaro Valley go back 5 generations. I was born and raised in Watsonville and with my wife of 21 years, have committed ourselves to raise our children in the Pajaro Valley, and the PVUSD.

I have two primary concerns for our children, safety and quality education. Providing safety for others has always been a big part of my life, as is my career demonstrates. As Deputy Fire Marshal, it is my responsibility to do annual fire safety inspections in the schools and I see first hand what shape our facilities are in. I also have seen the needs of the students and their teachers. The student achievement test scores must improve. We can do better!

As a community the Pajaro area is often forgotten because we live on the other side of the river. I will work hard and push for the best teachers and facilities for our children. As your representative, I will strive for equality throughout the entire district regardless of what the subject may be, and hopefully will be able to work towards a safer and better educated community.
