Statement of JAMES MAXWELL, Candidate for
Governing Board Member, Trustee Area 5
Santa Cruz County Board of Education

Occupation: Education Fiscal Advisor

Education and Qualifications: Degree in Business and Juris Doctorate Degree

As a parent of four children who attended elementary, junior high and high school in the Aptos/Trustee Area 5, I have first-hand knowledge of the successes and difficulties of our educational system. I am keenly aware of the challenges we as parents are facing as we try to provide the best education that our children deserve.

Having worked for the past 26 years as an instructor and an administrator I will be bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the County Board of Education. My 18 years experience as a fiscal administrator for the Santa Cruz County Office of Education has given me first hand knowledge of the fiscal accountability and duties and responsibilities expected from Board members. My current position as Fiscal Advisor to California school districts gives me a statewide insight to the importance of setting budget priorities and putting education first.

Children's academic success, quality teachers, fiscal accountability and attention to parents concerns will be my highest priorities. Your vote for me will insure that you have a voice on the County Board of Education.
