Marissa Ferejohn Swett
For Mountain Elementary School Board Member

Occupation: Teacher/Parent                                                  Age: 38

Since my eldest started kindergarten at Mountain School, I have been as participatory in the school as possible and I am absolutely committed to all parts of the Mountain community.  I am excited for the opportunity to expand my contributions to Mountain School as a school board trustee.  My professional experience in public education highly qualifies me for a position on Mountain’s school board.  After attending public schools for my entire K-12 education, and acquiring my teaching credential and Masters Degree at UCSC, I have spent the past thirteen years teaching social studies at Soquel High School.  My time working in Santa Cruz City Schools has given me many opportunities to learn about curriculum, budgeting, leadership, professional development, student services, special education, and many other systems relevant to this school board position.  Because I teach at a school to which many Mountain School alumni matriculate, I am in a position to help Mountain prepare our elementary students for secondary school.  Additionally, I am an active participant in the Mountain Parent’s Club, serving as a class representative twice.  I am up to the task of serving on Mountain’s school board.
