Bill Lee
For Santa Cruz Port District Commissioner

Occupation: Boat Designer and Builder                                 Age: 74

Our local fishermen developed the early vision for a harbor and in 1950 the residents voted in the Santa Cruz Port District.    The harbor opened in 1964 and serves a wide range of users including fisherman, slip licensees, visiting boaters, trailer boat/launch ramp users, boat rental facilities, charter boats, beach catamarans, kayakers, Hawaiian outrigger canoe teams, and more recently stand up paddlers.  The harbor provides for public safety and serves as a harbor of refuge. Come enjoy your harbor.

Access to and from the ocean is the key word and Santa Cruz only has one harbor.       It is the harbor’s obligation to provide the widest range of accesses both from land to water and from water to land.

I support working closely with government agencies, environmental groups, and neighbors to maximize access.

My Qualifications for Port Commissioner include:

BS, Mechanical Engineering, Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo

Santa Cruz resident since 1968

Founded and operated two small businesses within the district, both boating related

Elected to Santa Cruz Port Commission, 1985 to 1995 and 2005-2016

Served as chairperson five times

If elected, I will do my best to maintain and improve Santa Cruz Harbor.
