Occupation: Mayor of Watsonville

Born and raised in District 1, attended local schools, enlisted in the Army at 17 as a Combat Medic. Proudly served in the 1st Cavalry Division in the Persian Gulf War, earning numerous medals.

Enrolled at Cabrillo College, transferred to UCSC graduated with a degree in Community Studies. Interned with Watsonville’s Community Development, Neighborhood Services and City Manager's Office. Worked as a Political Organizer with the UFW and organized with SEIU, improving the quality of life for working people.

Served on the Redistricting Committee, Library and Planning Commissions. Active in State and County Democratic Parties, including PV Democrats. Proud member of the American Legion Post 121 and VFW Post 1716.

Fought Sacramento to return $4.4 million
Negotiated 90 day extension and relocation assistance for Crossroads stores
Approved over 250 homes
Region’s best Skate Park for youth
Brought FedEx Regional Hub, creating over 500 jobs
Added three new hotels and four restaurants
Worked to keep Watsonville Diesel
250 Main Street mixed-use development project
Art Walks, Bike Rides, Dog Walks and Food Truck events
